Welcome belatedly to the school year 2011/2012 first semester. Material for each course will updated sporadically.
The first unit of study has been completed on To Kill a Mockingbird. Homework assignments varied from simple question and answers to recognition of characters and the concept of irony, analysis of Mr. Gilmer and Atticus' trial strategies, and a news story. Final assessments included content tests (based simply on completing the novel) to a final significance test which assessed the student's ability to understand the concepts of character development, themes, and literary concepts such as symbol and irony as it is treated in the novel.
Next unit is Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. TUESDAY OCTOBER 25 is the class trip to Stratford! Please be at the main campus front doors by 8:45 dressed appropriately for the weather. You will be given time in Stratford before the performance to explore and eat lunch. Because we are leaving immediately after the performance you will not be given a chance to shop. Bring a snack which you will leave on the bus for the trip home. We should be back by 7:30 pm. Please check the Stratford Festival web page for more information on previews, maps, etc.
